Sustainable design

Designing with product life cycles in mind.

We combine technical knowledge with innovative design to create desirable outcomes.

Why our approach to sustainable design is explorative

Designing sustainably means all things have to be considered when it comes to the product's life cycle. Understanding the level of use needed, quality, weight, and the user journey.

Extending product life

The most powerful way of reducing landfill waste is by making products last longer. This is done through calculated material selections where qualities such as durability and toughness are desired. Designing with this approach works well with goods that are used repeatedly such as trays.

The spoon shown is an example of a product designed with 18/10 stainless steel for durability and resistance to corrosion from frequent washing and use.

Re-circulating products to minimise over production

We believe product design and product strategy go hand in hand. Our cutlery range is a perfect example of where we can design, supply and provide washing services to encourage businesses to invest in reusable inflight products as to disposable ones.

This tableware set was designed with ABS to allow the set to be durable and washable for re-use on flights. Weight was an important factor in ensuring the product's material selection didn't compromise on functionality

Minimising landfill waste

We understand that single-use products are sometimes the best option for businesses, especially in the economy-class space. In this instance designing and supplying products that can have materials salvaged and recycled to create new products is important in reducing the need to rely on virgin materials and further resource extraction.

The amenity kit packaging and dental kit toothbrush were made of recyclable materials due to the fact they are limited to being single-use for hygiene reasons.
